British museum. 5.12.2010

MA students exhibition in LCC

It was a really god evening! First I met my classmates at the bar in LCC. Had a lovely conversation and then we moved to see an exhibition. LSS's foyer was pretty busy which is not a surprise, show worth to stand some inconveniences. MA students has many things to be learned from. Here are some pictures that I managed to take there (It was very crowdy). Quality is not very good, since they were taken on my mobile phone.

 The opportunity to be in right place in right time is so blurred.

 Part of the branding project. The message is be greener. And it seems like it's teen oriented. Very similar to my GDF project.

 And this, as far as I understood, is some kind of a presentation. Like PDF but on paper. Innovative.

This is very interesting sound sensory projection system. Just imagine you can just cough, and it starts vibrating. It repeats every single vibration of your voice. I took a card of that student who made this installation. Planing to contact her next year. She probably must know a lot about projecting things. Hope that she would be very kind and help me with advice for my project.

Postcards "London Futures"

If future will be similar to what were portrayed by Robert Graves and Didier Medoc Jones in their series of cards "London futures", then perhaps it's time to start panic. 

This project will be on display at London's Museum in March next year. His goal - to grab people's attention to the problem of global warming. 

Fashion illustration in the Design Museum

Since last week there  is an exhibition in the Design Museum devoted to fashion illustration. It will run until March next year. In a unique collection there are works for Chanel, Dior, Comme des Garçons, Viktor & Rolf, and McQueen. It was very fascinating to look over  how illustrative styles had been changed since 1930. Fashion illustrators in our days really like to use new technologies and illustration made only by using ink, crayons or pencil is very rare in 21st century. Here are some pictures that I've secretly made in the museum and some pictures that I've found in internet.

Sunday early in the morning

Getting up unusual early for sunday (9 a.m.) I decided that this is a very good day for visiting galleries. I've choose the White Chapel Gallery for this sunday. There are several exhibitions running there by this time. First of them is a Walid Raad's Miraculous Beginnings. All the works which are presented there reveals theme of war in Lebanon. 

Cars that were used as a car bombs. With notes which are written in arabic and details date place and time of explosion.    

I was amazed by the contrast of technique simplicity and complexity of the main topic of exhibition. 

The second exhibition that I've liked is Jake's and Dinos's  Chapman: Children's art Commission. It's an illustrations taken from their book "Bedtime tales of sleepless nights"

Also there was a table with some colour pencils and "Jake & Dinos' colouring book". Every visitor could just sit right there on the chair and colour a picture. Back in childhood.
