What is Letter press?Can I say that it is very close to math and other science subjects? I think I can. There is no theory of computation and calculation but nevertheless all must be done very carefully and accurately. The slightest mistake and it can ruin all the work that have been done. The process of making words and sentences does not require much concentration one can even say you can relax and just enjoy. But it still have to be very careful and keep eye on distances and the spaces between words to keep them in the way as it was intended.
My first letter press experience made me love it. From the first lesson Alex (our tutor) divided us for small groups of four people and gave us a task. The task is that we should make one newspaper page which must be dedicated to one particular typeface. We got Playbill.
After we were assigned we started to make a research. I went to LCC library and found there a whole shelf dedicated to typography and letter pressing.

On a next week we met and shared our ideas. Some of them were really good but hard to execute and we had only three weeks for production, so it was decided to pick one idea which must be interesting and at the same time easy to do. We chose an idea of making a small advertisement of Playbill. And the work begun.
But it was not that easy as we thought. We came to workshop with draft layout but it occur that it's to complicated and this kind of work could take a month to product. However we didn't despaired and simplified it (once again). And to be honest I find it more interesting then the one on the layout.
