Back to the very beginnings

Tuesday 26 of october. I waited to this day all month. I love typography and I love letters. Its very fun to play around with fonts and make interesting pictures using your imagination and  computer. But it's more interesting to write letters and make a compositions by hand. Maybe it could sound strange but they seems like some alive creatures  for me. Just imagine single letter could give only one sound, but when you put together two or three letters it becomes a word with some particular meaning.
Even when I am doing logo, I prefer use letters and try to avoid icons. I mean letters could give so much information especially if to use them right.  In fact it's easier to remember one letter instead some picture. (well it does for me). Paul showed us some examples of logos in the end of the workshop which helped me to approve my point once again.

Especially love this one. Because of the arrow which appeared as a resolute of any kerning space between letters.

However I found this work shop pretty exiting because it's has been a long time since I haven't done any  typo things by hands. Back to the very beginnings (Computer killed my handmade creativity).
Here are some photos that I took during our class.

 Scaling, reshaping and outlining letters
It is possible to do so many different shapes and visuals from one letter.

Then it was name writing task. Some one wrote a Stinky Farty name. Still wondering who was it... Anyway that made me smile.

This is my one. Quite wavy isn't it? (J)

On this task we were suppose to convey meaning of the word through changing sizes kernings and letter turns.

Found it much more fun and exiting than previous two.
